Louise Bechtold holds an M.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Philosophy from the University of Tübingen, Germany, where she is a PhD-student. She has conducted her PhD field research on the ritual economy of feasts in southern Kyrgyzstan in 2011 and 2012. Since 2015 she is a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle, Germany. Her current research investigates kinship classification and practice in southern Kyrgyzstan.
