Dominik Müller studied Anthropology, Islamic Science and Political Science at the University of Zurich and received his MA in 2013.

During his BA he did research in south-eastern Kazakhstan on the various strategies of pastoral producers. For his MA thesis he conducted research at the Russian Islamic University in Kazan, Tatarstan. The MA thesis focused on the question of how the Muslim students (in particular the students from Central Asia) deal with the post-socialist socioeconomic change and how Islam is intertwined with their plans and strategies for their future.
